Tresco Music Box Jumper

I found this amazing Liberty of London Tresco fabric at the coolest online fabric store called Jones & Vandermeer. It was so bright and colorful I HAD to have it. Then I came across this post by Straightgrain on her super fun fabric manipulation technique she calls Improvisational Pleating…genius. I was so inspired, I started with the faux seaming technique, but I really want to try the other two as well!

For the pattern, I used the Music Box Jumper. I used a grey sweatshirt fleece for the bodice, which in retrospect was a little thick for the technique I used. I used the Liberty Tresco for the skirt which was wonderful to work with by the way! I skipped the little faux pockets that usually go with this pattern and added a jumbo black sparkly ric-rac instead, super fun right?

I had so much fun creating this bright happy look. I can’t wait to try the two other improvisational pleating techniques!!
